Cocktail Bar: The 35mm

           I surfed on the internet about bars where I can play guitar. I found an unusual cocktail bar, named ‘The 35mm’, on the internet and I and my sister went there on April 24th. Location of this bar is near the KT&G Sangsangmadang and just next building of the 405 Kitchen, a famous waffle café in Hongik University area. When I entered this bar, I could see many cameras on the shelves and 3 guitars are located in it. Camera and Guitar make this cocktail bar unique.

Cocktails we ordered are reasonable price. We sat on the table located left corner. On the menu, it is written that ‘when the guests order 10 bottles of beer or more, we serve you nachos for free’. The price of cocktails is from 6,000 won which is reasonable. I chose Cuba Libre, 7,000 won, is a highball made of cola, lime, and white rum. This is a bit sour and too sweet to not be able to feel strong rum taste. I recommend this cocktail for men who do not like bitterness of alcohol. My sister drank Vodka Cranberry, 7,000 won, which I could taste very strong sourness of lime and cranberry and bitter than my cocktail. I recommend this for women who like sourness.

Cuba Libre

Pretzel and canapé were not bad. When we ordered cocktails, pretzel was served together. It was salty enough and it was bite-sized pieces, which was what I like. It was perfect to have with cocktails. We also ordered canapé. Total 8 pieces of canapés was served on a tray. This consisted of roasted shrimp, cheese & olive, cherry on top of banana and tomato on each cracker. If the crackers were smaller, it would be much better to eat. We need to crash them when we eat. Crumbs of crackers went everywhere on the table.

Canapé

There was only one staff working in the bar. Although this bar was not big, he kept on doing something else so that we have to call him whenever we need something, such as asking permission to touch cameras on the shelves and guitars and for water etc. That was quite inconvenient. However, he took a photo for every guest and printed it out for free, which was really wonderful. This will be left a unique memory to guests.

The atmosphere of this bar was not bad. The lights were low and romance was in the air which is suitable for couples. There are various kinds of old cameras on the shelves. There were no batteries in them but I could touch them. It recalls memories of my childhood. In addition, there are 3 guitars the guests can play freely. Tuners were not working and 1^st sting of one of the guitars was broken. I brought Craft guitar and played it. The condition of the guitar was not very good and background music was little bit loud to play guitar, however, I was satisfied as long as the guitars were provided for the guests.

          To find cocktail bars, which provide the reasonable prices of drinks and food, take a picture for guests and are exhibited cameras and guitars, is not easy. Because of those unusual points, the 35mm, a cocktail bar in Hongik University area, attracts more guests. I would give eight points out of 10 for this bar.
