Guitarist: Andy McKee

Here, I am going to introduce one of my favorite guitarists.

Andy McKee.

He was borned April 4, 1979, in Topeka, Kansas. He is an American fingerstyle guitar player.

Here, we should know what the fingerstyle guitar is. Fingerstyle guitar is the technique of playing the guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks attached to fingers. Every musical elements, such as bit, base line, melody line and percussion etc,. are expressed or played by just one acustic guitar. Tommy Emmanuel, Andy Mckee and Don Ross are three the most famous fingerstyle guitar players. Popular fingerstyle players in Korea are Lee Byung Woo and Jung Sungha. This style is not very known to public because of its difficult technique. After playing by lead character in the movie August Rush, this style is getting popular.

He became famous by releasing his playing on youtube. In late 2006, a live performance of his song ‘Drifting’ became a Featured Video on Youtube, achieving over 40 million views on the former to date and remaining one of its highest-rated video clips. In addition, his other songs, like Rylynn, has recorded over 20 million views.

He has released six albums since 2001. In 2001, he was placed third at the National Fingerstyle Guitar Competition in Winfield, Kansas. Additionally, he placed second in the Fingerstyle Guitar Competition of the Canadian Guitar Festival in 2004.
